# Add your work Gmail to an iPhone or Android phone

Add your work Google Workspace account to the Gmail app on iPhone or Android by signing in with Google, right next to your personal account and with no IMAP or server settings to type.

## Add the account in the Gmail app

1. Open the **Gmail** app.
2. Tap your profile picture at the top right, in the search bar, then tap **Add another account**.
3. Tap **Google**.
4. Sign in with your work email address and password. If [2-Step Verification](/workspace-2-step-verification/) is turned on for your account, approve the prompt or enter the code on your phone.

Your work inbox now sits next to your personal one. Tap the profile picture to switch accounts, or choose **All inboxes** to see both together. It is the same account you use to [sign in to Gmail](/gmail-sign-in/) on the web.

## Add the account to the iPhone Mail app

If you prefer Apple's built-in Mail app instead of the Gmail app:

1. Open **Settings > Apps > Mail > Mail Accounts**. On older iOS versions it is **Settings > Mail > Accounts**.
2. Tap **Add Account**.
3. Tap **Google**.
4. Sign in with your work email and password.

Either way, no server, IMAP or port settings are needed. Google signs the account in for you.

## About device management prompts

If your company manages work devices, signing in may prompt you to install **Android Device Policy** or set up a work profile on Android, or install a configuration profile on iPhone. Follow the on-screen prompts. If you would rather not accept this on a personal phone, check with your company admin first, or use [Google Workspace in Outlook](/workspace-outlook/) on a computer instead.

## Common issues

### Do I need to enter IMAP or server settings to add my work Gmail?

No. Sign in with Google in the Gmail app or the iPhone Mail app and Google handles the connection automatically.

### Why am I asked to install a device policy app or profile?

Your company has turned on device management. Android may ask you to install Android Device Policy or set up a work profile, and iPhone may ask you to install a configuration profile. Follow the on-screen prompts.

### Can I have my personal and work Gmail on the same phone?

Yes. Add both accounts in the Gmail app and switch between them, or view both at once with All inboxes.
